MRI Study Findings

MRI findings

So I was speaking with someone yesterday and they reminded me of the video diaries I used to do, so I thought maybe a time for a recurrence of the diaries. I would like to change it up a little bit so I am going to vary them.

The first I wanted to do on was on a clinical paper I read the other day. The paper was the results of the MRI findings and long term follow up of horses that had an insertional Deep Digital Flexor Tendon injuries in horses. This study showed that about 4.9% of horses that presented at a centre in the UK had this issue as the primary cause of the lameness.

The sobering issue from the study was that the long term prognosis was very guarded for the condition. Only 33% of horses managed to get back to their previous level of exercise after 12 months. Really shows why we need to continue to really try and work hard to collate data to get proper answers on the longterm prognosis for injuries in horses.

It does also show that while diagnosis of foot conditions have improved we are still a little short on the treatment options.

Until next time I hope you enjoy this.
